Why Payco exists
Payco was founded out of frustration with an industry that put profits before people: hidden fees, broken promises, and a support number that goes somewhere other than the people who sold you the account.
The response was not a better rate sheet. It was a company built on honesty and integrity first — one that would rather lose a deal than win it on a number the merchant cannot reconcile three months later.
That is the whole reason the pricing pages on this site show you four models and tell you which one does not suit you. It is why the nine commitments below are written as promises rather than adjectives. And it is why there is a section on this page listing what Payco does not claim.
More than a payments company — a team of experienced professionals driven by service, innovation, and a relentless focus on our clients’ success.
“Champion client success through relentless care, proven expertise, and innovative technology. We simplify payments, strengthen connectivity, and remove barriers so businesses can grow with confidence.”The Payco mission

How we believe work should flow
Eight principles govern what gets built here. They are not a poster in a break room — a proposed feature that does not serve one of them is questioned, and the platform enforces them structurally rather than asking people to remember.
- Operations should never guessOperations receives a complete, validated opportunity. Their job is to verify quality, not to discover missing information.
- Information is entered onceA customer never provides the same information twice. An employee never retypes information another employee already collected.
- Every department adds valueSales sells. Operations verifies and orchestrates. Technology automates. Support supports. No department exists to re-enter data.
- Every handoff is completeEvery department hands the next everything required to do its job. No surprises, no guessing, no “I’ll figure it out.”
- Technology removes admin, not judgmentThe platform automates the repetitive work. People make the business decisions, and keep the authority to override the engine.
- The customer always knows what’s nextNo uncertainty. Every step is communicated, every milestone visible, every expectation stated before it matters.
- No employee is the integrationThe platform is the integration — not a person. People oversee exceptions, quality and customer experience.
- Every interaction creates valueThe assessment, the analysis and the recommendation are useful on their own. A merchant who never signs still leaves better informed.
The pattern we designed out
How the industry usually runs
A person is the integration
Re-keying, forwarding and chasing. It works right up until volume grows, and it buries a capable operator in administrative work that no system is accountable for. Every gap between two systems is somebody’s inbox.
How Payco runs
The platform is the integration
One record moves from the website to the processor to the installation without a human retyping it. The operator moves up to judgment: exceptions, quality and the customer’s experience — the work a person is actually better at than a system.
Traditional ISO vs. Payco
| Dimension | Traditional ISO | Payco |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | Multiple forms across multiple sites | One guided entry, captured once |
| Data | Re-keyed between systems by hand | One record, synced everywhere |
| Decisioning | Guesswork and institutional memory | Rules engine + AI, with human override |
| Signature | Several signatures, several round-trips | One consent signature, transferred |
| Handoffs | Incomplete; rework and chasing | Certified and gated at every stage |
| Support | Disconnected from onboarding context | One team, one thread, full context |
| Experience | Cheap, clunky, inconsistent | The American Express standard |
| Scale | Add people to add volume | Add volume without adding glue work |
The flywheel
Why a merchant-services company employs engineers. Each turn funds the next, which is the only honest answer to “who pays for all this technology?”
Better experience
Premium, white-glove, technology-forward — every screen held to the American Express standard: one clear next action, plain language, and the error states designed as carefully as the happy path.
Drives referrals
Merchants who feel taken care of send their neighbors. Partners who can see every file in their portal send their book. Most of this company’s business arrives this way.
Grows residuals
A growing base compounds recurring revenue across every rail we operate — processing, POS, payroll, connectivity and IT, on the same merchant.
Funds the platform
Residuals go back into PaycoOS — which makes the experience better, and the wheel turns again. Nothing here is funded by finding new places to add a fee.
The nine commitments
These are the promises Payco makes on the record. Each one is here because the opposite is common in this industry.
Performance-based provider
Exceptional customer care is at the heart of the relationship, and the relationship is what gets renewed — not a contract term. Clients are not just customers; they are the reason the next one arrives.
Processing equipment
As long as you are processing with us, you are covered: terminals with free replacements and upgrades every 36 months, or sooner if better hardware becomes available — so you are never running a business on a device a card brand has stopped certifying. Up to 2 terminals per MID.
Working technology
A no-excuse firm on uptime. We look at the whole network infrastructure to remove problems before they surface, and when something does break there is no passing the blame to another vendor. A dead terminal is a closed register, and it is treated as an outage rather than an inconvenience.
Contract mitigation
Locked into somebody else’s agreement? An in-house legal team works on contract flexibility in card processing and fintech — including the contract you are currently trying to leave. If you think you are stuck, call before you assume it.
Straightforward answers
Most clients come to Payco through referrals, which only survives if the answers are straight the first time. The priority is helping your business make money — not lining the pockets of your vendors.
Real support
If something breaks and you cannot fix it, call. On-site technicians handle the issue directly, backed by a nationwide network rather than a single regional office — no runaround, no shipping label instead of a person.
Common-sense customer service
Service with a smile, from people who can see your account rather than read a script about it. Deep product knowledge and an upbeat, solutions-driven attitude, delivered with speed and precision.
Transparent pricing
A clear invoice and contract clarity. You have the right to know exactly what you are paying for and how it compares to the market — and you should be able to reconcile your statement without calling anyone.
Clear communication
Industry updates, best practices, emerging technology and regulatory information — because rule changes in payments arrive whether or not your provider mentions them.
Who we serve
Card-present, card-not-present, B2B and restricted. Placement is a routing decision here rather than a hope: the boarding engine tests the vertical against each backend’s stated risk appetite and sends the file where it actually fits, and the rules it uses are published rather than described.
What working with us looks like
Six steps from first conversation to being paid for a referral. Nothing here requires you to enter the same information twice.
- 1
Request an analysis
Already processing? Send a recent statement and tell us about your setup — POS, virtual terminal, handhelds — and what you like and do not like about it. The engine extracts the processor, the fees, the volume and the effective rate, and shows the real opportunity rather than a teaser rate. New to processing? Skip to step three.
- 2
Discuss the needs and the analysis
Review the analysis on your own time, or walk it through with us. We answer the questions, learn what you are trying to accomplish, and recommend the setup around that — including recommending no change at all when your current deal is already the right one.
- 3
Complete the application
We prepare the application and send it back for one signature. You will need a voided check or bank verification letter, your Tax ID and your business information. One consent signature carries through underwriting instead of several round-trips.
- 4
Installation and training
Equipment is programmed before it ships. A technician sets up the devices, POS or virtual terminal, and trains you and your staff before we mark you live — a certified handoff, not a box in the mail.
- 5
Supported, around the clock
Support is staffed 24/7 for live merchants, by the team that has your file on screen when you call. Card-present downtime is not a next-business-day problem and is not queued as one.
- 6
Refer and get paid
Most of our business comes from clients who send their neighbors. Refer another business and you earn a cash reward once they start processing — the same economics our agents work under, offered to the people who did the convincing.
What we don’t claim
Honesty first is a claim too — so here is what it costs us
Most competitor pages in this industry are a wall of badges. Ours is shorter on purpose. Three things you will not find on this site:
- No badge we cannot show the paperwork forWhat is and is not asserted about the gateway, and by whom, is set out in plain terms on Payco Secure — including the attestations Payco has not published. That paragraph was written to be read, not skipped.
- No uptime percentageA published availability figure is a number a merchant relies on when deciding whether one register going dark is a risk they can carry. We would have to measure it before we printed it.
- No merchant, volume or retention statisticsEvery number on this page — the tenure, the integrations, the lenders, the technician network, the carriers — is one this company can point at a source for. There is no fourth stat about how few clients leave.

Questions people actually ask
Is Payco a processor, a bank or an ISO?
An ISO — a registered MSP/ISO of Elavon Inc. and a registered Independent Sales Organization of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. The sponsor bank holds the paper. Payco owns the relationship, the technology and the support, which is why the person who priced your deal and the person who answers your call are looking at the same record.
Where is Payco based?
Glendale, California — 520 East Wilson Avenue Suite 210, open Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific. Support for live merchants runs around the clock, and on-site work is dispatched through a nationwide technician network rather than from that one office.
What does Payco actually sell?
Five lines on one relationship: Payment Processing, Point of Sale, the Business Suite (payroll and HR, lending, VoIP, internet and mobility), managed IT, and the Payco Secure gateway — plus the hardware catalog behind them. One record, one invoice thread, one support number.
How long has Payco been doing this?
25+ years in the industry, with more than 2,000 POS and ERP platform integrations, access to 80+ banks and lenders, and a 5,000+ professional IT network behind the installs.
Do you work with restricted or high-risk businesses?
Yes. A restricted vertical is routed to a backend whose risk appetite actually covers it instead of being declined by default. Expect a documentation packet — application, W-9, voided check, ID and three months of statements — and in some cases a reserve. Where nothing in the stack can bank it, we say so rather than letting the file sit.
Can I see where my application stands without calling?
Yes. Every stage, document and piece of equipment lives in the portal, with a published commitment attached to each stage — the same thresholds the operations board uses internally to turn a file amber and then red. Check my application →
